Kirsty Bows Then
Kirsty first picked up the violin at age 6. Before the fact, she knew she had music deeply embedded in her, starting first with singing, followed by violin and piano. The violin she considers the extension of her voice.
She performed at her first professional performance alongside high school friend Lize Mynhardt in 2010, who is now titled runner up of Season 14 Idols South Africa. Since then, all she did entrepreneurially was around music – hosting church bands, conceptualizing for major cultural school events, setting up impact platforms such as The Platform at Stellenbosch University music department.
Kirsty’s music performance discipline is owed to her classical training at Stellenbosch University. It is at the SU Music Department that she achieved BMus (Cum Laude) and MMus (Cum Laude) degrees. During her academic years she achieved well, such as becoming a member of the Golden Key Society for high academic achievement, and obtaining the Harry Crossley Scholarship for Postgraduate Study.
Kirsty owes a lot of her success to growing up and working from a young age. Her father employed her to work in the ice cream van as part of his own ‘side hustle’ job.
